This was not the mower I went to get first off. But I am so glad I was shown! The Kawasaki 21.5hp motor has plenty of power to let you cut through tall grass and weeds. The 360z frame is sturdy and I haven’t felt or seen any twisting or flexing. The rear tire has a good grip on dry grass but does slip easily when the grass is wet. I have had very little grass dug up by them. The deck is well built and the mounting is awesome. There is a very little shaking and if you push with your foot it doesn’t push down like other brands. I’m 6ft 285lbs and the seating & handles fit me great. Now let’s touch on the pros......
Easy to learn, don’t let never driving a zero turn mower (ztm) keep you from looking at or considering this Snapper. Just start off with 1/2 throttle and start driving with small movements of the handles. I have cut my grass 3 times now and it is getting easier and easier each time.
Strong motor, this is my 1st Kawasaki motor-powered Mower. Prior to this, I have only used the Kolher motors. My yard had not been cut for 3 weeks and was around 5 to 10 inches tall when I used this mower for the first time. I started out slow but quickly realized that I could step up the speed. Motor never bogged or stalled. It just powered on like a hot knife in butter. Reviews online praise these motors and I have not 1 complaint as of now. I got 14 years out of my last tractor, which still runs great but finding deck parts have become too much of a pain.... if I can get that much out of this motor then I will know for sure of their life.
Cuts great with no stragglers, I know this will depend on each persons yard. I have had 2 other tractors with my yard and both alway left stragglers. Not really bad but enough that I would have to make a second pass. So far this Snapper has been a 1 pass ztm fast or slow. I have cut my mowing time by more than 50%. My grass is flat and straggler free.
Easy on gas, 3-gallon tank and on 2 gallons I have cut my yard 3 times! My previous mower would have run out before the 2nd time finished.
Foot pedal deck assist, I’m lazy... there that’s out of the way. I just put the peg in the desired height position and my foot does the rest. I can leave the deck to clear object or high spots. Not many residential mowers provide this. Try it before you drop it, I did and you may find it as useful or more useful than me.
More than enough deck positions 16 total, cannot say much more about this. WOW! 16 height positions. You know the feeling of trying to get both your push mower and your rider on the same cutting height. If you cannot match it with the 360z from Snapper your push mower is built goofy. Just saying.
Commercial grade look and feel if you don’t know Briggs & Stratton own Snapper and Ferris. From what I have read online this ZTM is modeled after one of Ferris’. The frame is put together to last and is reinforced in areas where it’s needed. Don’t take my word, go do some research and see for yourself. That’s what I did!
Fabricated deck, stamped decks are cheaper to make and often have up to 10-year warranties.... that’s nice. But Snapper gives you a lifetime warranty for the original buyer. Doesn’t cover being stupid and it shouldn’t but the deck is well built and looks like it will. Belts and spindles are not part of this warranty but the all-steel deck is.
Now let’s cover the cons....
Cuts too fast, yes this a real con. When I get out and cut the lawn this is my time to chill and do something I love. Before my 54-inch tractor took 2 hours to cut my yard. As of this review, I have 1.8 hours on the Snapper and have cut the yard 3 times. Each time I cut I get faster and faster as I learn the steering and navigating around the trees and other items. Now I have more time to do honey-dos instead of my chill time. So yes this is a con but it’s one of those good kinds.
Not enough fun time on the mower, said it up in the previous. But had I known a few years ago how much time I could save using this I would have bit the bullet and got it? I love spending time with my wife, kids, and my grand babies. I get an extra 1.5 hours each time I have to cut, which can be twice a week.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading and I hope it helps in your deciding process. The ztm is great at saving time and cutting the grass well the 1st time. There is a price to pay for quality and this Snapper has been worth every dollar and penny. If the 48 is too big, no worries they make a 36-inch fabricated deck version and if too small they have a bigger one too. Make the call to SLE or email or just drive out to them. You will be happy you did if they treat everyone like they treated me. I drove an hour and 40 minutes and have nothing to say bad. They earned my business and I’m not easy to please at times. Reach out to them and give them a chance to earn your business
Cuts great, well built and will do. Everything you need done!
Would purchase the next larger deck next time
Easy to use cuts grass well cuts mowing time in more than half from my previous mower good price love the cargo bed. A must have product
Brought home from dealer, fueled up and went to cutting. Smooth operation, turns easy, great cut. Previously had a ride on tractor style this zero turn makes for a much more pleasant grass cutting experience. I looked at many different brands and decided the snapper z360 was the best for my needs. So far so good.
