Bought a 2342 in may of 2022. Runs, mows great, but difficult time getting in/out shed. Have to play with the mower height. The lever for mow/travel only raises the roller height 1/4 inch off the ground at best despite adjustments.
Would I buy it again yes lots of power easy on gas mows good yard looks after you get done.
I purchased this 2020 42in Regent from a local dealer. Had I been able to try it out first I would have never bought it. I am very unhappy with it. The mulch kit which had to be ordered(150.00) came without any instructions. Very hard to put on. Had to call Briggs and Stratton to get a comic emailed. After putting on the mulch blades and mulcher I mowed and if I turn the mower a sharp left on an angle it appears the blade is rubbing on something. I loaded it up and took back where I purchased it at and the shop took off the deck and could not find anything wrong. The man said there was too much grass on the deck and he cleaned it off. Brought it home and it still has the same blade rubbing sound. I will be finding the junk a new home shortly.
I get compliments on my yard all the time because the stripes look fantastic. I had a 16 hp broad more before, but this regent 23 hp does a better job. I just dropped the deck to sharpen the blades. I don't like the lift cables that are used for lifting the deck. They are difficult to put the hairpin keepers into place. That is probably the reason one was not hooked up. At the beginning of the season, it seemed to lift ok. I noticed at midseason that it did not seem to lift as high. The hairpin had popped off and the one cable was no attached. The grass catcher attaches to the deck with 3 small shoulder screws with a thin washer that grabs the threads and then a knob. I had a knob come off and the retainer washer did not keep the bolt in place. I lost the bolt and washer. The other two bolts were still there but were hard to get the knobs to restart. It would be nice if the screws were a light press fit into the embossed holes. I guess I will epoxy them into place to try to solve this annoyance.
Purchased from a local dealer. Love the mower, especially because of the tight turning radius. With the 23hp B&S, you have plenty of power to mow even when it's wet. Watch out for the anti-scalp wheels hanging up when you load on a trailer or go into your shop. You have to take a stepped incline at an angle. I wish I could find the deck wheels you mount on the corners.
