After much searching, I finally discovered the Maxim 48" Spike aerator for my lawn. After 20 years of mowing with a large mower, the soil had become compacted and the grass was in poor health. Purchased the Maxim Aerator because of its superior quality of construction and value for the job. This is a piece of equipment that will last many years. It can be pulled with a zero turn mower or an ATV easily. I recommend aerating your yard after a rain shower so the soil is damp and also filling it with water. This makes it easier for the spikes to penetrate deeply into the soil which opens up the soil allowing it to take on more moisture and fertilizer, Also, aerating your yard before reseeding helps promote new seed growth. Our lawn looks more healthy and I think it is well on its way to recovering a thicker growth of turf thanks to the Maxim aerator. Its a little pricey but well worth it.
