It's a saw you haul up once your in the tree. More so, that you don't want to scuff it. A real looker. Not as nimble as the 200T, but endless power. I put a 16" bar on this puppy and have cut 18" wood with it. Not all the time, but it's there when you need it. One drawback, it sucks fuel! If your on a big hack, get ready to hump the saw in and out of the tree a an extra couple of times. Cut with this saw, and all you you'll do is smile!!!!! :)

Better than my old 200T by far!

I have several Stihls, an old Husky 266 and a an ancient BP-1, believe it or not. I am not a professional but I have been using chain saws for many years. I thought the 200T Stihl was the benchmark of small, top handle, saws until my local dealer convinced me (treated my lousy) that I should try another saw. I read the reviews and decided to try the T540XP and have never looked back. Aside from the funky start up where the saw seems to find its settings before it settles down and idles, it is a great performer. The 200T never accelerated that well but this saw is so quick, it is really surprising - I also think it has more power but that is subjective. The balance is great and the changeable grips are a plus. I've only put 10 tanks of gas through it so I have no way of evaluating the durability but, if it is half as durable and reliable as my trusty 266, I will be happy. Great for small stuff and will handle most ~12" wood with ease. A bit expensive but a really good saw.
