8" jaw capacity is ok for the oak and locus logs I have

The tongs are great for handling railroad ties. I haven't used them on logs yet.

As person with a bad back and trigger finger in both thumbs, these are a life saver. Good quality and easy to use. They make picking up logs so easy.

These tools work. I was able to move a lot of 7' to 12' cedar poles a lot easier than just by hand. The poles were 5" to 8" plus in diameter. The tongs barely fit some of the poles but held their bite as I moved them around. The Timber Tongs are very well built and really solid tools. Very much worth their cost. After using the 8" Timber Tongs I will order the 12" Timber Tongs also.
