Generac Part 7000 Smart Management Module (SMM)
The Generac 50 Amp Smart Management Module (SMM), now commonly referred to as the Generac 50A Load Manager (Model 7000/G0070001), is a crucial accessory for optimizing the performance of a standby generator or PWRcell™ energy storage system. It acts as an intelligent switch that manages high-demand, non-essential loads, allowing you to install a smaller, more cost-effective generator while still protecting a larger portion of your home's circuits.
Features
Capacity:
- Rated for 50 Amps resistive and 40 Amps inductive (full load) loads, and up to 180 Amps locked rotor current (for motor starting). This makes it suitable for managing loads like electric water heaters, smaller central air conditioners, electric ovens, or sub-panels.
Wire-Free Technology:
- The module is "self-aware" and requires no extra control wires to connect back to the transfer switch or generator controller. It monitors the power frequency locally, simplifying installation and reducing labor costs.
Load Prioritization:
- Each module has a dial that allows you to set its priority from 1 to 8. In an overload event, loads are shed in descending order (Priority 8 first). When the generator recovers, loads are brought back online in ascending order (Priority 1 first), ensuring essential items are always served.
Lock-Out Feature:
- Includes a physical switch that allows you to set the load to a permanent "lock-out" mode, preventing the appliance from ever running when the system is on generator power.
Maximum Flexibility:
- Up to eight individual SMMs (or Load Managers) can be installed on a single Generac system for comprehensive power management.
Durability:
- Housed in a NEMA 3R enclosure, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installation.
Compatibility:
- Works with virtually any Generac single-phase home standby generator (and PWRcell energy storage systems).
