Ferris IS700Z Zero Turn Mower 61" Deck 26 HP Vanguard

This is not a review of the IS2100Z, a model not offered in 2002, but a review of the 2002 Ferris ZT2352T [sold by Simplicity in 2002]. Here it is April 2017 and as a Virginia home owner that cuts about 5 acres of grass, this mower now has over 1200 hours on the original Kohler Command 23hp V-twin engine. I also use this mower every spring and fall to 'condition' my 20 acre hay field, to mow a small fruit orchard and to trim under thousands of feet of pasture fence [need wider deck for fence maintenance]. Over the years I performed routine replacement of mower deck bearings, blades, drive belt and replaced the bottom main seal on the engine, that is it! I never have had any break down and repair of expensive parts such as engine, hydraulic drive, starter or mower deck. I have always used Pennzoil synthetic with frequent oil/filter changes on the engine. Twice I replaced the Mobil 1 hydraulic fluid and filter. In my opinion, the Ferris ZT2352T is very comparable to the new IS2100Z, both being commercial quality. Ferris may cost a little more but in the long run, like my 15 year old mower, paying a little more up front provided superior quality. Just a note, I also bought a small 2015 John Deere 2025 diesel tractor [25hp] with loader, rototiller, snowblower and shaft drive mower deck implements. While conditioning the hay field I learned the Ferris Zero-Turn out performs the JD 2025 so much so, both in smooth operation, deck power and of course turning radius :-) I permanently hung the expensive JD mower deck implement on the wall in the tractor shed with no plans of using it again. Buy a Ferris commercial grade mower and you will not be disappointed in the investment, performance or longevity.
