DK2 OPC566E 6" Gas Powered Kinetic Chipper Shredder Kohler CH440 14 HP

SLE was great to work with and delivered the product to my door as promised. No damage during shipment as machine was well packed in the custom box. Assembly went as described in the manual; no missing parts. Quality rated as 4 because of 1) poor welds (tacked only) on the chute catches and they literally broke off with the first latching. Easy to fix if you have a welder so I repaired quickly and now they are probably better than the other latches and 2) thin steel on the bolt on tow bar. Steel bent just from bolting the tow assembly onto the frame; I plan to rebuild the tow bar and replace with a ring and pintle. 5 stars for performance: this machine works very well. Kohler engine starts perfectly ("E" model) and appears to have just the right amount of power. We tend to stay under 5" material just to be safe, but I suspect that it would handle 6" branches but at that size they are fire wood. We bought the "566" with the 4 wheels believing it would be easier to move and it really is easy. We push it around very rocky Texas hill country fairly easily. Bottom line, so far this machine is working really well. Great working with SLE.

like a lot people, I did a good amount of research on what chipper would fit my needs. I have many different kinds of trees on my property. I do have an old lite duty chipper shredder but I have outgrown it and needed something more powerful and something that will do the job faster and easier. I did have other chippers in mind but none matched the engine hp, the inch capacity, and the price that this chipper offered. I have put everything from small cedar branches, bunches of vines, to 5-inch locust branches. I don't have to pre-cut much before chipping so that saves some time Thought I needed another chipper shedder, but bigger and I'm glad I chose this one. It eats everything I put in it. After a few times I used it I knew I chose the correct machine. I'm confident that this chipper will last me a long time. Assembly was easier with two people and I did have to shim the hitch with some washers but it wasn't a big deal. love that no tools needed to open both inlet and outlet chutes. after I'm done chipping I open each chute and blow out debris with compressed air and a quick check of the blades.I don't need to take along a toolbox when I'm out chipping The front caster axle makes this machine easy to move around my garage and the yard without having to hitch it. Added an hour meter to keep a good schedule on the oil changes. last but not least the ability to hitch to my truck and take it to another location because of the dot wheels and hitch makes the possibility endless.

Assembly was somewhat easy. Inside bolts on toung assembly hard to reach. Everything else was easy, took only an hour. Fired up and chipped ten samplings from 6-inch pine to 3 in oak and it ate them up. Need to keep limb to 6 foot long or shorter to give drum time to recover. Fed its self well.

I agree with previous reviews this is a bad a$$ machine. It handled all I threw at it even 6 in pine trunks. It is perfect for my 5.5 acres plus we cut and sell firewood and it Handel's all the branches with ease. Love the Kohler engine, most of my equipment has Kohler engines, easy on full. Would recommend this to everybody.

I concur with the statement that this is "bad a$$". I had a lot of old piles of ash that needed to be removed and this thing ate everything I put in it up to 5 inches with no problem. I didn't have anything over 5" but I'm sure it would have had no problem ingesting it. It was simple to assemble and I was able to do it by myself in 2 hours.
The crate came without any damage.there were minor nicks to the chute and other pieces that probably occurred during shipment but nothing major. I received the newer version that doesn't have the stop bar underneath the chute which I am grateful for because that would have been a hassle. The axle has also been corrected so that no spacers are needed. It was providence that I got this when I did. With the last hurricane that pushed up the shore, I had some downed black walnut trees that I needed to clean up, and once again this thing was a true lifesaver. It tore through anything I put through it. Overall I am extremely pleased with the purchase of this product.
