I recently had the opportunity to use the S 427 to split an ash tree my son in law and I brought down at my residence. I was amazed at the power and ease this unit displays. I found at no time did it bog down or hang up on any piece we put in front of the ram. This splitter gives a clean cut with no hesitation even when encountering a knot in the wood. The only improvement that I would ask for would be a bigger gas tank on the powerful Kohler 7.75 hp motor. I know this may sound foolish but I . found myself fondly calling it " Rambo" after the first half hour of using it.
