I made the correct decision on purchasing my Ferris 400s ! Only had to replace a belt after 2 1/2 years, no other issues! Smooth ride, cuts even, and very well built unlike John Deere, Cub Cadet and Dixon, which I have owned all three! Bad Boy would have been my next choice but seems like they have several issues from what I've heard and read! Thumbs up Ferris!
Have the isx800 for over a year now. If you have rough acreage to mow, this is the mower you want. You can mow for hours and not feel like you were in a car wreck. Have had a few small problems, starter solenoid went out, 15$ part, easy fix. 20amp fuse blew, tractor was dead, got online for electric diagram, found and replaced.
The mower is by far better built than others I have owned ie. John Deere, Craftsman. Mows great and is a softer ride.
The 400s 48inch deck Kaw. 21.5 hp has a problem with cut grass built up under the deck which stops the blades from cutting. The operator has to stop the blades completely and let all the chunked up grass fall off the bottom of the deck. Now you have chunked up grass on your freshly cut lawn. The mower in my opinion is a little under power. It would be nice to be able to get gator mulching blades for it.
I have had Dixion, Bad Dog, and now Ferris all 3 have their pluses, But the blood-red mower is the best of the 3. I have a large farmyard to mow. The Ferris will really run fast. BAD Boy is built very heavy, the Dixion easiest to work on. I really like the Ferris.
