I spent several months looking over several mowers. Exmark Radius E, Scag Freedom Z, Bigdog Alpha MP, Bad Boy ZT Elite, and Gravely ZT HD were all in the mix. The Ferris IS600Z was the winner by far. 3400 series transmission was highest rated out of all the mowers that I compared. Although this was overkill for my yard (2.3 acres) for the money, bigger is better. I chose the 44inch deck even though it did not come with the ICD deck. My yard is not a manicured lawn, but one with weeds, grass, bare spots, and several other things growing that can't be decoded. I am very happy with the cut, and the suspension is incredible. (Also, the 44 inch deck fit my trailer, 48 would not have fit)
I was torn between the Exmark Radius E with the upgraded suspension seat and the Ferris, but after riding on both, I went with the Ferris due to the cost of the seat for the Exmark and the ride on the Ferris was just as good, if not better, than the Exmark. I would suggest riding on both before you buy, but I think that you will agree with me on the ride. I do hate that the tires are smaller on the Ferris, but you can't have everything.
I was a little nervous about the Briggs motor, but the Exmark engine was going to be a gamble also. I went with the Briggs name over the Exmark branded engine. Time will tell.
So far I am impressed with mower. Very nice steering and 3400 transaxels are tough.
great mower
