First, let me say 2 things. One I used to be a John Deere service tech and second the mower was a gift. So I have seen a lot of mowers over the years. I have work on quite a few and there are things that stand out. A mower has to have a good heart. If the engine doesn't run the rest is useless. I was a bit skeptical about the Kawi. Most of the equipment I like either has a Kohler or a Honda engine. I have to say The Kawasaki has changed my mind. In the 6 years, I have owned my encore the only engine trouble I have had has been fuel line problems (the quick disconnect plugged) and the pull cord. The deck is equally as solid. Nowadays this machine gets pretty easy service as it mows my 5 acres and I trim up a few other spots for my neighbor, but this machine was the original mower for a lawnmower company before It was given to me. I know the guy and it got spanked 6 days a week for a few years and then it was dragged out while the"new" hydros were in the shop.. I can't say it was well cared for but it has held up well. He parked it when it started eating drive belts, due to an improperly installed idler. That's bad service, not a bad machine. To give you an idea of how many hours are on this machine the brake levers have worn thru the pivots! I don't keep junk around and after using this machine for a number of years I wouldn't part with it. After you use one of these you'll never mow with a tractor again..now about those brake handles...
