I did a lot of research on this tool and ended up ordering it due to the numerous landscape beds I have to maintain. I have had good luck with Echo tools in the past and that really drove my decision to buy the Echo tool versus the Stihl since the performance of the two machines is similar. I filled the unit with pre-mixed fuel and adjusted the cutting depth to the deepest setting and went to work. The unit started easily just as I experience with my other Echo tools. To begin edging, I let the head rev up to speed, engage it with the ground and I pulled the head at a 45-degree angle in front of me while walking backward along the already established landscape bed edge. The unit recreates the crisp edge, trims the grass that overhangs the edge, and deposits the mulch and clippings onto the flower bed. I was amazed at how quickly my mulch lines were back to top shape and would recommend this tool to anybody looking to spruce up the landscape bed edges. Here are a few things to keep in mind: 1. the unit works best when you pull it at a little faster pace since you will be more prone to create an uneven edge when you go too slow. 2. The unit will not work well in rocky soil since the head will hit the rocks and will get knocked off track 3. This is an edge redefiner and will not perform well to create new flower bed edges, you are better off renting a landscape bed edger to establish the landscape bed and then use the Echo edge redefiner to maintain the edge going forward. I typically do not write reviews but the tool worked great and is worth the investment since it cut my edging time from several hours with a spade and rake to 45 minutes with no hand tools required and if you are on the fence about buying this tool you should go ahead and order it and make your landscaping work easier and quicker.
