the cutting height range of 1 to 4 inches is much too low. it s/b more like 2 to 5 or even 3 to 6 inch range. But, i bought this mower 3 days ago knowing the height adjustment issue. i previously had a R120s that had the same problem. I was able to modify it. I am now trying to modify this one too. i am looking for some tires with a 16 inch outside diameter to replace the current tires which are 14 3/4 inch outside diameter. i love the mower because i have hilly terrain to cut that has ditches and this mower is the best for that type cutting. I am looking at a cheaper option than replacing the tires; but, replacing the tires would be the best solution. i can raise the gauge wheels with a longer bolt and some washers but then the wheels don't clear ground well when the cutting deck is in the up-position and I am concerned about that much tilt on the cutting deck. The bottom line is Husqvarna could easily fix this problem if they just would!!!!
cuts very nice and works well
I took a stock mower deck mulching-plug off my 8 year old Craftsman (Husqvarna) lawn tractor and the set of 3 Sears mulching blades off the old 48" tractor and made this 48" side discharge R220t into a mulching deck. It works better than the old 48" tractor. I remove the side deflector completely to save space and keep the machine narrow for my shed door. With the rear engine and articulating frame this is a new and incredible mowing experience. It mows around beds and gets into tight spots and around trees like nothing I have ever seen. It requires half the energy to turn and seems like it almost has power steering. The deck looks almost like my old one but by putting it out in front of the wheels it gets a better cut, in fact I would say its the best cut I have ever gotten from any rotary mower. I would have expected the front caster wheels to press the grass down but most of the time they hardly touch the ground and only seem to act like a nose roller would, touching only high spots and roots and such. This is my 4th rider in 30 years and I would give it 6 Stars if I could.
